don’t download to root folder sonarr issue

When using Sonarr you might come across this issue: “don’t place downloads in the root folder E:\Media\Shows. You should not download to a root folder.” Now you’re wondering, why does it tell me that?

Well it’s simple, and here’s the solution.

How to Fix Root Folder Issue Sonaar?

Sonarr is warning you that it's not a good practice to download files directly to the root folder of a drive. This is because it can cause problems with organization and permissions, and can potentially cause issues with the overall stability of your system.

When you’re installing and using Sonarr for the first time, this is confusing to set up the file structure correctly, but it’s VERY important.

It's recommended that you create a subdirectory specifically for downloads, and configure your download client to save files to that directory.

My favorite way to do it is have Sonaar go to the root folder like E:\Media\TVShows.

Then qbittorent is set to put the downloads in E:\Media\Downloads.

For Radarr use E:\Media\Movies.

Once you've made this change, Sonarr should no longer give you a warning about downloading to a root folder.
